Bio

I am a creative nonfiction writer & teacher.

I am a recent graduate of the Nonfiction Writing Program MFA at the University of Iowa (’24) and I have a BA in English & Creative Writing and Biology from Dartmouth College (’19).

I write about mental health and nature – particularly the ocean (see selected publications). I have won several writing awards and research fellowships, such as the Edwards R. Perkins Literature Prize for Excellence in English at Dartmouth and the Stanley Fellowship for International Research at Iowa. I am now working on a book about scuba diving.

I also teach creative writing at the undergraduate level. I have taught Rhetoric, Introduction to Publishing, and Advanced Publishing, as well as workshops and technical seminars in creative nonfiction (see student testimonials). I won the Carl Klaus Teaching Award at the University of Iowa in April 2024. I am currently working as a lecturer at the University of Chicago.
